Holiday Happenings – Good Luck Box Holiday Edition and Other Surprises

Whoosh. The holidays are coming to an end very soon, but that doesn’t mean I can’t relive it a little bit through this post.

I submitted a blog post to the Good Luck Box  for their Blogger’s for Boxes program last month and was featured as their November winner. I wrote about tricks I use to help stay motivated to run. I didn’t grow up with a love of running. It took time, patience, and a lot of sweat and tears to get me to where I am now – someone who is enthusiastic about all things running. Read about my tips here at the Good Luck Box site (sans pictures) or on my original post on this site here.

Anyway, in return for blogging for their site, I received a complementary Good luck Box. I was able to choose between their usual box and their Holiday edition box. Since I received one of their usual boxes for my NYC marathon last month, I chose the latter.  Plus, I love holiday related items. Who doesn’t? img_7370

Disclaimer: I am not being compensated for my review of the following items. The opinions stated are my own.

Under Amour beanie – It’s SUPER warm. I’m not even a beanie person, but nowadays, I feel naked without it. It might also be because it’s been pretty cold for my area, but seriously, it’s a game changer.

Feetures socks – I really like these for keeping my feet warm. Unfortunately, they’re the cushion kind and I have a hard time running in them. I do love their elite max brand though. I got a pair of those last month and those do wonders for my runs.

Momentum Jewelry’s Sparklet – I really like sparkly things so this was a perfect addition to the box. I really like wearing the sparklets on my wrist. Who doesn’t want to be pretty on their runs?

Good Luck Box Ornament and gloves– WOOHOO. Another ornament for the tree. This year, my tree was decorated with running related ornaments. Check it out on my instagram. The gloves were a nice touch. After my crazy cold half marathon earlier this month, I’ve found a new appreciation for throwaway gloves.

Honey Stinger GingerSnap Waffle/Seattle Chocolates (Candy Cane Crunch)/Gatorade Endurance Energy Chews/Virginia Tea company teas– I have yet to try these out, but I’m excited. I am a huge fan of HoneyStinger and I’m always on the lookout for newer items to try out.

Candy Canes/Koozie/Shoelaces – I don’t have much of a need for these, but it’s always nice to be surprised. 🙂

In other news:

My boyfriend gave me his GoPro for Christmas along with some of the accessories that go with it! I’ve been wanting to record more things on my travels/races/everyday happenings so this is perfect for me and I know I’ve been saying this a lot, but I can’t wait to use it! He also gave me a lock picking set. Hah. A few months ago, I locked myself out of my room and of course, I didn’t have a spare. I mentioned in passing that I needed to learn how to pick locks and so he bought me a set to practice on. I guess this is what I’ll be doing during my free time. 🙂

We also went to see Christmas displays. My favorite was this particular one. img_7379

80,000+ lights with a bunch of inflatables and other structures. The owners say their electricity bill triples during the month and it takes 2 months to set up this extravagant show. Also, during certain times, Santa will come out and hand out candy canes to children. That’s dedication.

How were your holidays? Did you get something you really wanted for Christmas?

  1. I haven’t heard of the Good Luck Box before, that’s a cute idea. I admit there are so many boxes out there now I get them a little confused. I’ve never been able to commit to buying one. A lock picking kit is kind of cool. I always used to want to know how to do that.

    1. I agree about the boxes. It’s nice if you know which brands you’ll probably get, but after one or two boxes, they’re about the same (especially the good luck one I got). I really do like the surprise part of these boxes though. I will let you know if I can successfully pick a lock or not in a few months. Hopefully I can. 🙂
